A condo and several houses were severely damaged by a fire on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 701-315 Zary Road around 12:45 p.m. The fire department sent three engine companies, an aerial ladder truck and a rescue truck to the fire. Crews found smoke and flames coming from the back of the building. Three people had left the residence before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters controlled the blaze in about 37 minutes. Investigators say the fire was accidental, caused by smoking materials. Damage to the condo and surrounding homes is estimated at $400,000.
