This year, CTV is recognizing not one, but two individuals for their generosity and sense of community.

The recipients of the 2011 CTV Saskatoon Citizen of the Year Award are Bill and Eleanor Edwards.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Bill and Eleanor met in high school and were married in the early 1970s.

After Bill earned a masters degree in architecture, the couple's daughter Kessa was born, followed by their son Morgan.

Eleanor continued working as a teacher and a volunteer for the Saskatoon School for the Deaf, before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

Bill and Eleanor Edwards have given to Saskatoon in many ways -- through their businesses, and by volunteering their time to various groups and organizations.

While raising their two children, the Edwards owned two businesses in Saskatoon, including the Saskatoon Funeral Home.

Bill and Eleanor created the W.A. Edwards Centre to offer grief support programs and to give over 30 non-profit community organizations a free meeting space that they couldn't otherwise afford.

Saskatoon residents may have seen Bill out in the community coaching various sports teams or witnessed Eleanor in action, volunteering with organizations such as Meals on Wheels.

In addition, both have served with various hospital foundation and board committees to advance health care in Saskatoon.
