SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Canadian skip Chelsea Carey rallied for an 8-7 win over Denmark's Lene Nielsen in extra ends on Saturday in Draw 1 of the women's curling world championship.
Denmark jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two ends before Canada started to creep back into the game.
A flubbed hit and roll by the Danes in the ninth end gave Canada its first lead of the game.
Nielsen recovered with a point in the 10th to force another end, setting up Carey's win on the final throw.
The Canadians return to the ice on Sunday morning to face reigning world champion Switzerland in Draw 3.
Round-robin play continues through Thursday, with the playoffs beginning on Friday and the final on March 27.
