A 14-year-old boy has now been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a 15-year-old boy in Saskatoon.

Police were called to a home in the 300 block of Avenue Q South at 6:45 p.m. on Labour Day where they found the body of the teen. An autopsy found that he died of a gunshot wound.

On Friday, police charged a 14-year-old with careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, and several weapons related offences in connection with the incident. Police revealed on Monday that he has now been charged with manslaughter, and criminal negligence causing death with a firearm.

Investigators say the victim and the suspect were known to each other, and this was not a random incident.

The suspect appeared in Provincial Court on Monday morning.

This is Saskatoon’s sixth homicide of 2015.
