An 89-year-old woman is back home with family after becoming lost while berry picking and spending Saturday night outside in the northern Saskatchewan bush.

Alice Gobert was with her family in the forest approximately 50 kilometres north of Meadow Lake when she became lost late Saturday evening, RCMP said in a news release.

A search by RCMP of the immediate area until 3 a.m. Sunday failed to locate Gobert and search and rescue personnel were called in to launch a full-scale search.

Gobert was located at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday when a search plane spotted a woman walking along a cut line more than six kilometres from where she was reported missing.

RCMP said Gobert was not injured and after a precautionary check by medical personnel she was able to return home to her family.
