Former Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Weston Dressler has been released by the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL.

Dressler was one of 11 players released Monday as the Chiefs cut their roster to 78 players.

Dressler, 29, signed with the Chiefs as a free agent during the off season after spending seven seasons with the Roughriders. He saw action in three pre-season games with the Chiefs.

“The slot receiver from Canada was a star in the CFL. While there were hopes for him in the NFL, it just never really materialized,” wrote Joel Thorman of the blog Arrowhead Pride.

“The Chiefs hardly gave any playing time to Dressler, who didn't stand out in training camp. Maybe it's the level of competition or maybe it's his size but Dressler just never got his chance.”
