The remains of two people have been found following a house fire on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

RCMP say 61-year-old Donna Kay and 10-year-old Teegan Ahenakew, both from the Ahtahkakoop First Nation, were found dead at the scene of the fire.

Two men from the reserve managed to escape after the fire broke out at the two-storey home on Monday. Both were treated for smoke inhalation.

Mounties say the fire is not believed to be suspicious and the cause remains under investigation.

The Ahtahkakoop First Nation is located about 70 kilometers northwest of Prince Albert.
