A francophone community north of Saskatoon is grieving the sudden loss of a teenager who died by suicide.

His body was found Wednesday morning on the École St-Isadore grounds where he was a student in St. Isidore De Bellevue, Sask.

RCMP said he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident happened outside the school.

No one else was injured and no other students were around when the incident occurred.

École St-Isadore remained open after the event but students were given the option to go home. An intervention team — including grief counsellors — was brought to the school.

RCMP said they are investigating with the coroner’s office, but that they are not treating the incident as criminal.

The victim was under the age of 18, police said.

St. Isidore De Bellevue is located about 55 kilometres south of Prince Albert near Domremy, Sask.
