A performer in Saskatoon for the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival took the old maxim “the show must go on” to heart Tuesday night.

Royal Wood was to headline the free stage lineup but when the show was cancelled due to weather concerns he took to Twitter to express his disappointment: “Noooo. So sad. I was really looking forward to it!”

That’s when radio host and actress Heather Morrison replied that she had a piano at her home and could round up a group of friends for an audience.

“Now that’s an option,” Wood tweeted

“You're welcome to it! I'm sure I could fit at least thirty awesome people in my condo to listen!” Morrison tweeted in reply.

Wood was up for the gig: “If you can get 30 people and a guitar or bass amp. ... My band and I’ll do it.”

A few tweets later the amp was successfully rounded up and Wood was on his way to an impromptu house concert at Morrison’s home in front of a group of friends and Twitter followers who had requested an invitation.
