An investigation is underway after a CP train derailed east of Saskatoon.
The westbound freight train came off the tracks about 16 kilometres east of Saskatoon, near Clavet, at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Canadian Pacific Railway spokeswoman Salem Woodrow.
Initial reports indicated 11 cars derailed including eight empties and three loads of cement. But after further investigation it was found more cars were involved.
"After conducting our initial investigation, I can confirm that a total of 17 cars derailed including 12 empties and five loads of cement," Woodrow wrote in an email to CTV News.
No one was injured and there are no reports of leaks or fire.
CP emergency crews were dispatched to the site, and government officials have been notified.
A full investigation is being conducted to find out what caused the derailment, according to Woodrow.
