Mounties are asking for help solving nearly a dozen ATM thefts in rural Saskatchewan.

RCMP say 11 machines have been removed from businesses in rural locations around Saskatoon since December.

They say that in some instances, the ATMs have later been recovered in ditches, empty of cash.

Police are asking business owners to ensure security cameras are working and to have sufficient lighting around their buildings.

They also ask the public to report any suspicious vehicles or behaviour, including vehicles that seem out of place early in the morning.

In one ATM theft in late December, thieves smashed their way into a bar in Humboldt with an axe and then pulled the ATM out with a pickup truck.
