A care home in Prince Albert has developed a special room to help patients, thanks to the generosity of the city's firefighters.

The Herb Bassett Care Home has installed a sensory stimulation system. The room can help those with mental illnesses such as dementia.

The system was funded by the Prince Albert Firefighter’s Charity, which donated $15,000 to help in its creation. The room features soft lighting, interactive elements such as water tubes, a star wall, and several toys that help stimulate the brain.

Donna Dalziel helped to create the room. "If you're volatile, if you're angered, this will calm you down. If you're withdrawn, this will help pep you up, and make you more engaged with the world, and couldn't we all use a little bit of that?
