The death of a 26-year-old man in Pelican Narrows is being treated as suspicious, RCMP say.

Mounties responded to a sudden death call in the northeastern Saskatchewan community late Monday night, at about 11:20 p.m. A man was found dead outside, in an open area, police said in a media release.

His name has not yet been released.

An autopsy is set to take place Wednesday in Saskatoon. Investigators so far consider his death suspicious.

The RCMP’s major crimes north unit and historical case units are investigating the death alongside officers from Saskatoon, forensic police from Prince Albert and Tisdale, and the coroner’s office.
