One person is dead and two others seriously injured after an SUV and a semi-trailer collided on a highway near Prince Albert early Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the crash on Highway 3 about five kilometres southeast of the city around 1:30 p.m.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, RCMP said. The name and age of the victim hasn’t been released.

Two other people, an 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, who were in the SUV were both taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to Parkland Ambulance.

The driver of the semi-trailer wasn’t hurt.

Traffic on Highway 3 was expected to be detoured near the scene for about an hour and a half while RCMP investigated.
