A man and a woman from the Melfort area are in custody and facing charges of conspiring to murder their respective spouses.

Curtis Vey, 49, of Wakaw, and 49-year-old Angela Nicholson of Melfort are both charged.

Jim Taylor says he was one of the intended victims.

“I was just devastated and shocked over this whole issue,” he said. “My heart really goes out to my children.”

Taylor says an audio recording was key. He says Brigette Vey became suspicious that her husband was having an affair. A recorder was set up in her house. Taylor claims it recorded the two accused talking of murder.

"Shocked, that was a shock to me,” said Taylor. “I didn't sleep for about three nights after that."

After a police investigation, Curtis Vey and Angela Nicholson were charged with conspiring to commit murder. Both remain in custody, awaiting a bail hearing.

Nicholson’s lawyer Ron Piche says she is not the kind of person who would plan a murder.

"My client Mrs. Nicholson is regarded as an upstanding and very respected person in that community,” said Piche. “She is active in her church. In the last two weeks I have received around ten support letters in her behalf."

Vey and Nicholson are both scheduled to appear in court in Melfort in late August.

Taylor says he just wants the whole thing to be over.
