A man is facing charges after a Saskatoon taxi driver was robbed early Wednesday.

The robbery took place at 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Tait Crescent when the driver was threatened with a knife. The suspect escaped on foot with cash and property belonging to the driver, police said in a news release.

A police canine unit was called to track the suspect who was arrested about 20 minutes later. The money, property and a weapon were recovered during the arrest.

The man is charged with armed robbery, two counts of uttering death threats, and mischief. He is expected to appear Wednesday in Saskatoon provincial court.
