A Saskatoon city councillor is facing sanctions for sharing a confidential document with a member of the public.

City council will vote Monday on whether to sanction Ward 2 councillor Pat Lorje for releasing details of a private report that had been tabled at an in-camera meeting.

The investigation began after a potential breach of confidentiality was reported in September. The city’s executive committee was presented earlier this month with results of the investigation that pointed to Lorje as the source of the breach.

The investigation alleges she emailed part of the private report to a member of the public.

Lorje has apologized for the privacy breach but still faces restrictions on how she can receive and view confidential documents, including a ban on receiving documents electronically for all in-camera meetings. All physical copies would be watermarked, be able to be viewed only in the city clerk’s office and returned to the city clerk following in-camera meetings.

The sanctions would last for a one-year period.
