Saskatoon paramedics are crediting two bystanders with helping a 67-year-old woman escape a dangerous crash Friday morning.

A spokesperson for MD Ambulance says the woman’s vehicle hit a semi, rolled multiple times and landed in a water-filled dugout after she lost control of the vehicle on Highway 5, about 30 kilometres east of Saskatoon.

The bystanders — deemed “Patient Angels” by MD Ambulance — jumped into the water, helped the woman escape from the vehicle and kept her warm until paramedics arrived, the MD spokesperson said.

She was transported to Royal University Hospital in stable condition.
