The brother of an abducted Saskatoon woman says the armed and dangerous man who may have taken his sister is her ex-fiancé.

Mariana Cracogna, 26, was abducted from the 1100 block of Seventh Street around 4 p.m. Friday, according to Saskatoon police. She was planning to drop off an engagement ring to her ex-fiancé the day she went missing, her brother, Pablo Cracogna, told CTV.

“She came for the weekend to visit, went to her place to pick up a couple of things and drop off the engagement ring, and that was the last time anyone heard from her,” said Pablo.

Saskatoon police said in a media release she may be with Clinton McLaughlin, a man who should be considered armed and dangerous.

McLaughlin is Mariana’s ex-fiancé, according to Pablo.

Mariana has spent the past few months working as a civil engineer in Estevan, Sask., Pablo said. She has a place in Saskatoon and came to the city to visit over the weekend.

The last time any of Mariana’s family members spoke with her was Friday morning.

“There’s nothing we can do. We feel helpless,” Pablo said.

McLaughlin, 36, has access to firearms and should not be approached, according to Saskatoon police. He is described as six-foot-six and 230 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Mariana is five-foot-eight and 145 pounds with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She is active in mixed martial arts and is well built, according to Pablo. She speaks both English and Spanish.

Police said McLaughlin and Mariana may be in one of the following vehicles: A silver 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT with a roof rack and personalized Saskatchewan Roughriders licence plate MARES, or a two-door 2000  blue Honda Civic with a carbon fibre hood and Saskatchewan licence plate 277 ICI.
