A Calgary company has been ordered to pay a fine and surcharge totalling $140,000 after a worker lost a hand in an accident at a Saskatchewan job site.

Crop Production Services Canada Inc. pleaded guilty in Saskatoon provincial court last week to failing to provide enough safety measures in an area with moving machinery.

Court was told that a worker lost his left hand in April 2014 when it became entangled in a conveyor near Elstow.

One other charge against the company was stayed.
