An investigation is underway after a boy living at Saskatoon’s Kilburn Hall died.

Saskatchewan Justice confirmed that the young offender died in hospital July 29.

Foul play is not suspected, but the cause of death has not been released.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends,” said Drew Wilby, executive director of corporate affairs with Saskatchewan Justice.

According to Wilby, this is the first time anyone has died under the care of Kilburn Hall. He added that in 2013, someone died at the Prince Albert Youth Residence.

A police investigation, an internal investigation and a coroner’s inquest are underway.
