A low-pressure system moving through the northern Prairies is bringing is expected to bring high winds to much of Saskatchewan on Wednesday.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Saskatoon and a wide swath of the province due to a mild Pacific air mass moving across the region. The air mass is also bringing temperatures above the freezing mark with Saskatoon forecast to reach of high of 8C on Wednesday.

The forecast calls for winds in the 50 to 60 km/h range Wednesday afternoon with the potential for gusts reaching the 100 km/h mark as the system moves southeast across the province. The wind is expected to abate later in the day and fall below the warning threshold during the evening

Environment Canada says strong winds have been reported to the west, including a gust to 119 km/h at Fort St. John, B.C., and numerous gusts over 100 km/h in Alberta.
