The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority has issued another advisory/warning for the South Saskatchewan River, Boundary and Rafferty reservoirs.

Recent rainfall in Alberta has increased the flows in the South Saskatchewan River above Lake Diefenbaker. Flows of 3,000 cubic-metres-per-second are expected in the river basin and into Lake Diefenbaker. Saskatchewan Watershed Authority expects the level of the Saskatchewan River above Lake Diefenbaker to rise approximately three metres.

The level of Lake Diefenbaker is expected to rise approximately 1.5 metres over the next 10 days. Late Sunday or early Monday is when the peak is expected to arrive at the Alberta/Saskatchewan border.

The Watershed Authority will also be increasing outflows from Rafferty reservoir immediately in response to recent rainfall. Increased runoff into Boundary and Rafferty are expected with more rain predicted early next week.

The outflow was increased by 15 cubic-metres-pre-second on Saturday and 30 cubic-metres-pre-second on Sunday, with a total flow through Estevan of approximately 100 cubic-metres-pre-second.

The Watershed Authority say water levels in the Souris River will increase in the river valley and landowners are advised to take necessary actions to protect themselves and their property.
