Voter turnout, at 40 per cent, was up just slightly in this year’s Saskatoon election.
The city’s unofficial final results show 80,262 of the 200,228 eligible voters cast ballots — an increase of three per cent over 2012’s numbers.
A few polling stations experienced a rush of voters late Wednesday evening, which led to delayed results.
Voters at Westmount Community School, Brunskill School and Elim Church were lined up when the polls closed at 8 p.m. and were then ushered into the buildings to vote.
The election’s returning officer said the surge of voters was not expected but noted all voters in line at 8 p.m. were able to vote.
