Two people are facing charges after a shooting in Saskatoon’s Buena Vista neighbourhood Tuesday morning.
Police were called to a house on the 200 block of 1st Street East shortly before 8 a.m. following reports of a gunshot. Officers discovered “evidence of a discharged firearm” upon arriving at the scene, police said in a media release.
The release did not elaborate on what evidence was found by the officers, but on scene a shotgun shell sat on the driveway and bullets holes marked the home’s garage door.
Witnesses told police they saw two people fleeing the area.
Police said they also received a report, earlier that morning, of a gunshot in the 1300 block of 20th Street West.
The two accused — a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old boy — were arrested at an apartment on 20th Street’s 1300 block.
Several people were located in the apartment, police said. A sawed-off shotgun and sawed-off .22 calibre gun were also found.
The 19-year-old is charged with one count of discharging a firearm with intent to injure and breaching an undertaking. The 17-year-old faces two counts of discharging a firearm with intent to injure and one count of breaching probation.
The pair were set to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Wednesday morning.
Further charges are pending, police said.
