Twelve people were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle collision in Saskatoon around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. They included a number of children, including one as young as four.

Saskatoon police say no one was seriously hurt. However, a triage area was set up by MD Ambulance and Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services, to assess the injuries. MD Ambulance deployed its Special Operation Bus to deal with all the injured people. Seven people were taken to hospital on the bus, ranging in age from a child of four to a 44-year-old woman. Another four were transported in two separate ambulances.

Saskatoon Police say many of the injured were residents of a home for people with special needs.

Police say the accident happened when a car heading west on 23rd Street collided with a Suburban heading north on Avenue P. The impact flipped the Suburban on its side. Ten people from the Suburban were taken to hospital. Eight of them are residents of the special care home, ranging in age from four to 20.

Two people from the car were also transported to hospital.

Police remained on the scene for hours, carrying out an investigation. So far no charges have been laid.
