A truck found submerged in the South Saskatchewan River Thursday morning was reported stolen the previous night, according to Saskatoon RCMP.
The Ford F-350 was found in the water at the Clarkboro ferry crossing, located between Warman and Aberdeen. The vehicle was removed by RCMP and the Saskatoon Fire Department Friday morning.
No one was inside the truck at the time and police don’t know how the vehicle wound up in the water.
A licence plate check on the Ford revealed it had been reported stolen Wednesday night.
Ferries in Saskatchewan generally operate from mid-April to mid-November, according to the highways ministry. The Clarkboro ferry was closed at the time of the incident.
RCMP said they were passing the investigation on to the Saskatoon Police Service as city police already have a file open on the stolen vehicle.
