Second suspect in North Battleford homicide arrested in Regina
The Saskatchewan RCMP have arrested another suspect wanted in relation to a fatal shooting in North Battleford back in February.
On Dec. 12, the Saskatchewan RCMP’s major crimes unit located and arrested a 17-year-old male in Regina.
He has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He made his first appearance in provincial court in Regina on Dec. 13.
Due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, police can not identify the accused.
The charges stem from the death of Jordan Wright, 32, on Feb. 2, 2024 in North Battleford.
An investigation into Wright’s death determined two suspects entered a 93rd Street home, armed with weapons.
Police received a report of a shooting at the home and responded soon after – finding an injured Wright at the scene. He later died of his injuries.
On Dec. 9, Xavier Lonesinger, a 26-year-old North Battleford man, was arrested at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre and charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death.
Even with two suspects now in custody, Saskatchewan RCMP continue to investigate the homicide.
The service is asking anyone with information concerning Wright’s death to contact police at 310-RCMP or to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
