Saskatoon apartment fire raises carbon monoxide concerns

Share

A fire in a basement suite apartment on Pendygrasse Road led to concerns about carbon monoxide exposure on Monday.

Firefighters were at the scene early Monday evening. Once the blaze was put out, crews checked for carbon monoxide (CO).

According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, crews found elevated CO levels in the building — posing a serious health hazard.

A crew stayed at the scene and ventilated the building using fans.

The fire department says CO levels were undetectable when they left the scene.
