A group home in Wadena was left significantly damaged after an early morning fire Tuesday.
RCMP alongside Wadena’s volunteer fire department responded to a blaze at a home on 2nd Street Southwest around 1:30 a.m.
The home served people with intellectual disabilities and operated as a not-for-profit. All six people in the house — five residents and one worker — escaped unharmed.
The chief of the volunteer fire department told CTV that the residents’ possessions were all destroyed. The department wrote on Facebook that lightning likely started the blaze.
RCMP said they are still investigating, but that they do not consider the fire suspicious.
