Another provincial party has selected its candidate for the upcoming Saskatoon Fairview byelection.
David Prokopchuk accepted the Progressive Conservative Party’s nomination at a meeting Thursday evening.
“I am very pleased to accept the nomination,” Prokopchuk said in a news release. “Throughout the riding, constituents are telling me they are not pleased with the status quo, and are looking for a change other than the NDP.”
Prokopchuk ran unsuccessfully for the PC Party in the Saskatoon Meewasin byelection in March. He was one of four candidates who lost to the NDP’s Ryan Meili.
He’ll face the NDP’s Vicki Mowat and the Liberals’ Shah Rukh — both of whom ran in last year’s provincial election — as well as the Saskatchewan Party’s Cameron Scott in the upcoming Saskatoon Fairview byelection.
The Saskatchewan Green Party has yet to announce a candidate.
The Saskatoon Fairview seat opened up in late June after the Saskatchewan Party’s Jennifer Campeau stepped down from her MLA position. A byelection must be held within six months to fill the vacant seat.
