Saskatoon police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of a man believed to be involved in a jewelry store robbery and vehicle fire Feb. 1.

28-year-old Muhidiin Ahmed Farah, who is from Montreal, is charged with armed robbery, wearing a disguise in the commission of an offence, conspiracy to commit arson and breach of undertaking.

He is allegedly one of four men who entered Birks jewelry store on 3rd Avenue South shortly before 11 a.m. Feb. 1 brandishing crowbars. The four were wearing construction-style jackets and black balaclavas. They smashed display cases and stole a large quantity of jewelry, including Rolex watches.

About 90 minutes later, a Dodge Caravan that was used as a getaway vehicle in the robbery was reported on fire near Bottomley Avenue and Osler Street.

Police were able to connect the incident to an eastside apartment and, after executing a search warrant at the apartment, investigators found some of the clothing worn in the robbery.

Surveillance footage from the jewelry store allowed police to identify Farah as a suspect.

Farah, who is black, is described as six-feet tall and 174 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the incidents or the whereabouts of Farah is asked to contact Saskatoon police. Police have released footage of the robbery, footage of the alleged suspects entering the eastside apartment, and photos of the suspects.

No one was injured during the incidents.
