Saskatchewan residents still lamenting the loss of Blackstrap ski hill will soon be able to leave their sorrows on the lake.

The province announced two agreements with private investors Friday that would see $2.6 million put towards a new marina and rental cabins at Blackstrap Provincial Park.

Blackstrap Marina Corp will lead the development of a 190-slip inland marina while Waterfront Developments Ltd. will develop and run 12 new rental cabins.

The marina will offer marine fuel service, a boat launch and vehicle parking as well as multi-year, annual and daily slip rentals.

The cabins will be fully-furnished and available for rent year-round.

Blackstrap Marina Corp expects the marina to be up and running by summer 2015. No date has been set for the cabins' opening but the province said construction on both projects will begin as soon as possible.

In addition to the projects, the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport is also planning a new serviced campground at the park.
