A deadly crash near Lloydminster has left 6 people dead.
RCMP said the accident happened at approximately 4:20 a.m., 6 kilometers southeast of Lloydminster. Initially, RCMP thought the collision only involved a rolled semi, but when they arrived on the scene they realized another vehicle was involved.
Originally, RCMP reported one person died in the accident, followed by another release around 1:00 p.m. that said the crash killed seven. However, the latest update from the RCMP said they've now confirmed six people, three females and three males, were killed.
The victims youngest victim was 17-years-old, and other ages ranged to early 20's. One of the victims survived the crash and was taken to hospital, however, they died a short time later. The rest of the victims were pronouced dead on the scene.
The driver of the semi was an adult male. He was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
RCMP are still working to identify all the victims and notify the families. They said the process could “take some time”.
The roads in the area are currently closed for the safety of the investigators on the scene.
An update from RCMP is expected in Regina later this afternoon.
