A 27-year-old man is dead after an incident at a Saskatoon nightclub Thursday night.

The Fez on Broadway hosts Hip Hop Thursdays. To get to the bar, customers have to walk down 18 concrete steps. Police don't know how or why the 27-year-old man fell head-first down the steps, but they are continuing to investigate.

Alyson Edwards from the Saskatoon Police Service, says officials believe it was accidental. "We looked at video footage and determined there doesn't appear to be any foul play involved."

The man struck his head just before midnight Thursday. He then went into medical distress and was transported to hospital where he was declared dead.

One of the bar's co-owners, Simione Ionce, said the man appeared to be sober when he entered the club. "He didn't look intoxicated to me at all."

The victim has not been identified by the police, but the bar has posted a memorial on its Facebook page to 27-year-old Jeff Yuzak expressing it's sympathies.

The incident is under investigation by the coroner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for early next week.
