RCMP have taken a man into custody in relation to a suspicious death in Kerrobert.
The man was arrested northwest of Luseland, a nearby town, nearly 10 hours after Mounties responded to a home in Kerrobert Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the home, located in the same building as Kerrobert’s old town hall, at about 5 a.m. The body of a 53-year-old man -- police initially stated he was 56 -- was found inside the residence when police arrived.
His death is considered suspicious, RCMP said in a media release.
The building was taped off and a second scene, located near Luseland in the Heart’s Hill rural municipality, was also secured.
Emergency response officers were called to the scene northwest of Luseland, RCMP stated. Officers worked to communicate with a man at the scene, and at about 2 p.m., he was taken into custody.
Police believe the two scenes are connected. The man taken into custody is not considered a suspect at this time, according to RCMP.
An autopsy has since been ordered in the 53-year-old's death.
