It’s far from becoming a reality, but the projected budget for the Saskatoon’s proposed north commuter parkway plan has already increased.

City administration is now projecting the cost of building a six-lane bridge at $245 million, a jump from the from the original $229 million estimate because the city has to account for potential inflation increases, according to a report to city council.

Previous estimates were based on an October 2016 completion date but that timeline isn't going to happen. The new numbers reflect a completion date on October 2017.

Funding the project remains an issue with the provincial government so far offering no commitment. The report says if funding is not confirmed by the summer of 2014 the project could be delayed even further.
