The incident occurred just outside the Midtown Plaza on 1st Avenue South after two mall security guards and two loss prevention officers attempted to stop two shop-lifting suspects.

Police said the four guards were sprayed with bear mace by one suspect, the 17-year-old girl, while apprehending the other suspect, a male.

The four were able to apprehend the girl, but the male escaped and is still at large.
