A derailed CN train left a highway into Watrous blocked Wednesday night.
A CN Rail spokesperson said three cars carrying potash fertilizer derailed at a crossing on Highway 2, near the central Saskatchewan community, at about 9:30 p.m.
The train was departing a yard at slow speeds during the derailment, according to the spokesperson.
The roadway was left closed until about midnight, when crews cleared the crossing. The cars remained upright after the derailment, but were moved into the ditch during cleanup, the spokesperson said.
Daniel Bushman, with the Watrous Manitou newspaper, told CTV News the cars appeared to be jackknifed on the track. He said a few cars, which were upright Wednesday night, were sitting tipped in the ditch Thursday morning.
CN crews were still on scene Thursday.
The CN spokesperson said crews are still investigating the cause of the derailment.
No one was injured.
