Saskatoon city council voted in favour Monday of making two cuts to civic garbage collection in an effort to save money.
Council voted 9-2 in favour of no longer printing and mailing out the waste collection calendar, which can be found online. It also voted 9-2 in favour of cancelling the extra garbage collection that’s picked up between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Cutting both services will save the city $110,000, according to Ward 4 city councillor Troy Davies.
The printed calendars will no longer be available in 2019, and the additional post-Christmas garbage collection will be scrapped next year.
