Police are still investigating after a handgun discharged inside St. Peter School in the 200 block of Sumner Crescent Thursday morning.

Officials say an 11-year-old boy brought a .45-calibre handgun to school, not knowing it was loaded. The weapon was discharged into a locker in the back of a classroom. No one was hurt when the gun went off.

Police spokesperson Alyson Edwards says officials are investigating whether or not the gun was legally owned and how it was stored. Charges could be laid against a parent.
