People got an unscheduled fireworks show on Wednesday when a truck carrying the explosives caught fire heading into Swift Current.
Fire Chief Denis Pilon says something ruptured in the truck, spraying fuel over the truck's engine, and as it drove under a bridge, it exploded.
He says the driver couldn't get out of his door, so he jumped out the passenger window to safety.
Since no one was in danger, Pilon says fire officials choice to let the fireworks go off while they hosed down the bridge to keep it cool in an attempt to prevent damage to the structure.
