One-hundred and fifty people were stranded after a Via Rail train got stuck on blocked tracks near Biggar, Sask..
Train #2 was en route from Vancouver heading to Toronto when it encountered three freight trains blocking the tracks near Pako. The train was forced to delay their trip for the last 26 hours.
According to Via Rail, the passengers were quite comfortable despite the wait.
The train started moving again at 9:00 a.m. and is expected in Saskatoon in a few hours. Once it arrives, travelers will get a break to stop and stretch their legs before continuing east. There are reports that several passengers will abandon the train all together, and are opting to fly the remainder of their journeys.
The weather has also delayed a CP rail freight train near Unity. It blocked the tracks and crews have been working around the clock to clear a path for it to continue.
