The City of Saskatoon is rolling out blue bins for the launch of the city-wide residential recycling program.

Delivery of the bins to homes began Wednesday as part of a staggered neighbourhood rollout that will continue until June.

Customers will have their first collection within two weeks of getting their blue bin, with the bins being picked up at the same place as their garbage bin.

A monthly fee of $4.66 will be added to homeowners’ utility bills once service has started.

Bins are being delivered in the Silverwood Heights neighbourhood this week, followed by Nutana and Greystone Heights next week.

The mandatory recycling program will be extended to apartments and condos in 2014.
