RCMP say two possible attempted abductions reported within a week in nearby Saskatchewan towns show no signs of being related.

Mounties in Outlook received a report on Thursday, Feb. 5 that a child was approached by man in a blue truck just after 4 p.m.

The child, who was under the age of 12, was walking near a business on Franklin Street. The driver told the child “their mother was in the hospital and they needed to go with him,” according to RCMP.

The child said no and ran for help before reporting the incident to a parent.

The man was described as heavy set and middle aged with a trimmed, dark brown beard. He was wearing a red ‘Budweiser’ hat, police said.

The truck was described as a blue extended cab, likely a GMC, with some paint chips and silver-trimmed wheel wells.

A week later, on Thursday, Feb. 12, RCMP were told a child under the age of 12 was approached by a man in a grey, four-door car in Davidson.

The child was waiting to cross the street at Davidson Elementary School around 3:30 p.m. when the driver approached. The driver told the child their mother told him to pick them up, according to police.

He told the child to get in his car, but the child refused and ran for help.

The man was described as Caucasian, between 30 and 40 years old, with curly brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a hooded black sweater, black watch and a ring on his left hand with a red jewel on it, police said.

The car was seen leaving the area southbound on Government Road.

The incidents show no indications of being related and the investigations are ongoing, RCMP said.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact RCMP.

Outlook and Davidson are located about 50 kilometres apart in central Saskatchewan.
