Fifteen inmates from a Saskatoon jail are being moved to Regina and Prince Albert after an altercation Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Corrections and Policing said a disturbance occurred in a dorm unit that houses 30 low-risk offenders. He was not sure how many offenders were involved in the incident.
Saskatoon police and the fire department responded, but corrections staff were able to control the situation after using pepper spray.
No one was injured, according to the spokesperson.
Eight offenders are being moved to Regina and seven are being sent to Prince Albert. Fifteen are staying in Saskatoon.
An internal review of the incident is underway, the spokesperson said.
