Forty-six workers are losing their jobs at Mosaic’s Colonsay mine.

The unionized employees were given notice at the beginning of this week.

A spokesperson for Mosaic said the decision was difficult to make. The mine, located about 65 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon, is facing a challenging potash market.

The layoffs take effect Dec. 14.

Twenty-two employees and about 10 managers accepted retirement packages as well.
