A man accused of running over a group of children on the Big River First Nation has been denied bail.

Colt Morin, 20, is one of two people charged in the hit-and-run crash, which resulted in a brain injury to an 11-year-old girl and left four other kids injured. He was denied bail Tuesday in a Prince Albert court.

Mounties say a car struck the five youth, who were walking on a road on the First Nation, on April 9. The vehicle did not stop after the crash, according to police.

Morin is facing more than a dozen charges, including three counts each of failing to stop at the scene of a person injured, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm, in connection to the collision.

His mother, 37, was allegedly the passenger in the car. She is charged with obstruction and failing to stop at the scene of a person injured.

The Big River First Nation is located about 130 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
