Woman gets eight years for manslaughter
Christine Griffiths was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in jail for the manslaughter death of Jamie LaFramboise at this Avenue P apartment building.
A Saskatoon woman will spend eight years in jail after being sentenced Wednesday for manslaughter in connection to a 2009 stabbing death in Saskatoon.
Christine Griffiths, 36, was charged after Jamie LaFramboise, 32, died after being found on the street behind St. Paul's Hospital on Oct. 5, 2009.
LaFramboise and Griffiths had been drinking and got into an argument that led to a confrontation and LaFramboise's death.
Griffiths was originally charged with second-degree murder but pleaded to manslaughter. On Wednesday Judge Mona Dovell accepted a joint submission requesting an eight- year sentence and double credit for the three months Griffiths spent in pre-trial custody.
Griffiths' attorney says she could be eligible for parole after serving one-third of her prison term.
