A woman will appear in a Saskatoon courtroom Friday charged with endangering the safety of an aircraft.

Maygan Sensenberger, 23,  was arrested by Saskatoon police after her flight arrived at the Saskatoon airport just after 8 p.m. Thursday. She is the wife of 69-year-old Liberal senator Rod Zimmer of Winnipeg.

Aircraft personnel called for police assistance prior to landing after Sensenberger began causing a disturbance.

The woman was met by police after passengers disembarked from the plane. An investigation revealed the passenger had been disruptive and threatening towards others on the aircraft, police said.

She is charged with endangering the safety of an aircraft and causing a disturbance. Prosecutors say sentencing for indictable offenses like these could be as high as imprisonment for life. Sensenberger will attend a bail hearing on Monday morning, which means she'll be spending the weekend in jail.

No one was injured in the incident and the plane’s safety was not compromised.
